Having just been to the Supporters day and seen all the cameras, and photos etc being taken moreover the 5 lucky people who had their photo taken in the cockpit, I have been struck by an idea.
Shout me down by all means if it has already been suggested, but in the vein of something that was quite popular a few years ago with Wild West type themes, how about people being photographed by ML407 in authentic flying gear from the era and the prints being done in either sepia or black and white? Also, I would suggest they are taken beside the Plane rather than in it (to save wear and tear and anybody putting a foot where they shouldn`t), maybe this could be done on a few days a year when ML407 is not flying and based at the Hangar.
If Darren was not available to take the photos, I would quite happily do so.I have a reasonable camera set up for portrait type photos and from a personal point of view would love a photo of that type hanging in my hallway for all to see.
Also I would quite happily supply the necessary photo paper, printing etc. I know a particularly good picture framer and may be able to negotiate a good deal on bulk orders.

What does any one think of the idea in priciple, if not already thought of?

Cheers
Andy

Great idea!   Smiley

I've seen this sort of thing at airshows before, where they put just the your headshot (with hat/goggles), into a corner with your name, then a picture of the plane as the main photo underneath.  So this idea would be a great step up & a much better selling point as well.  Could this be done at an airshow though - or would it be just available at special opening days?

I would love a "period" picture hanging on my wall / desktop background...etc...so I you can certainly register my interest!   Grin

I`ve just had another idea that may bear fruit if anyone is able. We have a "Village Day" coming up on the 15th August, which will have various stalls etc selling their wares. How about a Grace Spitfire stall, selling all the usual stuff and also touting for supporters? I will be at the village day anyway and would happily assist running a stall. If anyone is interested let me know and I`ll find out more details etc..
Cheers

Hi Andy,

The logistics of this are always a bit tricky as carting the merchandise about is awkward.

Worth suggesting to the boss though!

Cheers,
James

I`d be happy to help in any way shape or form including picking stuff up, dropping it off etc, if that would be any help?
Cheers

Just wondered if there had been any movement on this idea, there seem to have been a lot of viewers, but not many comments?
having just returned from Duxford, it never ceases to amaze how many people turn up in period gear. I saw a Luftwaffe Officer of all things today!!! And, no end of "Authentic" Flying gear available for sale..
