Thanks for the offer Mike, good of you to help out. I'm working at the Newark air museum, but you never know they do 'overfly' the airfield, so you never know. Have a great time there. And remember to get there early, for you 'parking' slot !!

Hi Gary,

This will be my first time going to the members day, so I was looking at getting there for about 10am - is this too late in the day do you think?  Last time I went past Coningsby, I was heading for East Kirkby, where I got to go on one of the taxi rides in the "Just Jane" Lanc.  I was standing in the upper-turrent with 2 merlins either side of me - absolutely superb!   Grin

Are you a volunteer at Newark Gary?  I'm off to see Vulcan XM655 at Wellsbourne on the 24th Oct, some of us XH558 members are having a bit of members day there, and I hope to be able get up into the cockpit for the first time.

Mike, if you think standing between two roaring Merlins and staying on the ground was great, come to Canada and actually fly in a Lancaster! I can garantee that it will be something you'll always remember and it will take ages to wipe the smile off your face!

Cheers,

Clive - I'd love to!  Grin  One day maybe....along with the Spitfire, B17, P-51 and what would have been a Lightning in Thunder City.  Sadly, they have had to close their doors to flying from what I've read.

I assume you have had the great pleasure of flying the Lanc?  I didn't read anywhere that they managed to get her back to flying status - well done!
