Ml407's time in Ireland

Not been on the board for what seems ages anyway, in Dublin this week running training so I thought if I had the time I could visit Baldonnal the home of ML407 when in the Irish Air Corps.

It is not to far down the road and is also called Casement Aerodrome (Aeradróm Mhic Easmainn)
See if I have time on Friday to at least drive past and wave !!!

  Following on from Andy's post, if you go to the "Airfield Information Exchange" (AIX) forum, go to Republic of Ireland Airfields, then click on Baldonnel.
  There are three photo's, the third of which shows three T 9's flying over the hanger, could one of those be ML407  ?? 
  I will try and embed the link if I can remember how.

I don't think the Irish Air Corps had very many 2 seater Spitfires as trainers to begin with so quite possibly one of those Spitfires is indeed ML407.

They had 6 serialed 158,159,160,161,162 and 163  ML407 was 162

Good evening all,
I was just looking at the three Spitfires in formation over the hangars at Baldonnel, sorry Paul but 162 is not there, they are from L to R 163, 161 and 158.
I attach two pictures of 162 during Irish Air Corps service. The one posed showing the bomb trolly is 162 in its original colour scheme, the other shows it in its final colour scheme.

Hi,
Yes Paul, it is of a number of photographs taken by the Air Corps. That is the only one in my files at the moment.
You may like to know that ML407/162 returned to Baldonnel for the Air Show  in August 1986 and I had the great  please of meeting and chatting to Nick. The Air Corps at Baldonnel were delighted to see the Spitfire back for a visit.
I have attached a picture scanned from a slide taken at the time of the visit.
