In the process of writing in the newsletter but for a break I will answer this post - I have spoken to the Fliying Display Director who has said she does not know which of the two airshows ML407 will take part in at Duxford of the May or September. I know I cannot do the October show. I was hoping to put in the Newsletter which one I would be doing but that is obviously not possible - my only concern is that if it is to be the May show it will not appear in the newsletter for those without access to the internet will then not see. I will not be booked for the flying Legends airshow which is usual.

Hopefully ML407 will be booked for one of them unless of course she gets booked elsewhere in the meantime.

out for now

Carolyn

Hello Carolyn,
Following the website ,as I do,I can't help but notice the differences between Our Favorite  First Lady and the Flying Legends administration. I freely acknowledge I know diddly about the commercial aspects of operating a Spitfire (or any other aircraft for that matter) but wonder if this is some kind of rivalry we in the Armchair Squadron are unaware of ?
I realize this is a question you may not be able to answer, but it is a great shame that we will not be seeing 407 at all the DX airshows.

Best wishes

Tailwheel,

I do not know if you are a Grace Spitfire Supporter and if you are not I suggest you may like to consider becoming involved with our great group. You will then have the advantage of understanding to some degreee the difficulties in keeping a Spitfire operational without the backing of millions of pounds.

There is no rivalry as you refer between Flying Legends and the Grace Spitfire - all airshow organisers make the decidions as to which aircraft they book for their display. Steven Grey does not book the Grace Spitfire for Legends. The FDD at Duxford and indeed numerous other airshow organisers will start to decide on participation of different aircraft after the Military allocation has been decided as they are a lot more economical as they are supporterd by the government.

I expect to be taking part in one of the Duxford airshows - it would be nice to be in both the May and September but that decision is up to the FDD and Duxford Marketing and I am unlikely to know until April.

when the newsletter is out next weekSupporters will see that I have a few confirmed bookings for next year.

must go and compose n/l
Carolyn

When Carolyn releases the 2007 list of bookings I will archive the info on the 2006 dates and put all the the new ones in the calendar.

Just to answer your question..yes Carolyn landed at Old Warden around Lunchtime and opened the display ay 1630 for the last Sunset Display. This was the first time ML407 has landed there.
A few of us attended and we had a very good aternoon and evening. There are some pictures on the photo board..have a look.

Malc,
Well we all had a good time so it would be very good if Carolyn was invited in 2007, we'll have to wait and see.
