Not really anything to do with our own Spitfire, but if you have never been to East Kirkby to see Just Jane, it is well worth it, as these pictures show. A cold yet very moving experiance.

On with the images,

The Bayliss Spitfire MJ627 with the "Major" at the controls(which displayed as the sun was setting)

Just Jane in daylight

And the sight and sounds of the night run?brilliant!

And some fireworks to finish

Great photos (I only take snaps !!) Although not our "First Love" (ML407),Mrs. Tailwheel treated me to the Taxi  Ride experience  and that is awesome and mind blowing .Imagine, standing behind the Captain while he starts and gunns FOUR Merlins!
If you can, fill your flying boots.Unreservedly recommended.

It's even better when flying in a Lanc. Feel and hear the raw power of 4 Merlin's at take off power, the surge is awsome. I was very fortunate to have been a ground engineer with BBMF from 1986 - 1990. And very proud of being there also.

          "Top Man Stevie"

East Kirkby is a great place, lots to see and the tour around the perimeter is very interesting.
Watched "Just Jane" do a tail up mock take off along the grass runway a few weeks ago, which was impressive as we were so close. However, its even better to watch the BBMF Lancaster in full flight.

Paul,

I did the peri track tour on Saturday, and the guide was really good. Well worth the ?2!

I have yet to see the tail up run, so it is a must do for  next year. This was my first night run.

You haven't lived Sharren, sorry, Darren. You've got to do a tail up run at least once, 4 Merlins aaahhhh sweet music. Mind you I suppose I'd better say our nice little Merlin 25 sound sweet to. (perhaps CG won't see that)

I agree with Stevie. Nothing the same I know of as flying in a Lancaster! Spitfires are super yes, but nothing can quite match the power and majesty of a 4 engined bomber in flight even if it does handle like a fighter!

Cheers,
Clive. Stranded in the colonies. (Canada)
3 Lancaster trips so far, 27 to go for a full tour!(lol)
