Now the new message board is up and running as promised I will give you the answer to the competition:-

Question - Who issued the Permit to Test on ML407 when Nick had compelted his rebuild?
Answer   -  Page 117 of 2nd TAF Spitfire 2nd Edition book -  Mr G Rigby of Bristol CAA office on 10th April 1985.

The winner was Steve Kingman who won a set of Grace Spitfire Prints.  I said he could enter the competition as it was not related to engineering and no 'inside knowledge' was needed.

I am pleased to now give you a more challenging set of questions to answer with a top prize of:-
One of the Limited Edition prints 'Nightfire' by Darren Harbar

So there will be three questions and it will be up until the 25th August and the first five correct answers will be put into a Merlin 'pot' and the winner drawn out - so brains at the ready:

  1.   what squadron markings did ML407 have at St Denijs, Westrem

   2.    what date and where did ML407 (along with other spitfires) have the black-and-white stripes removed off the top of
          the main-planes and fuselages.

   3.   How many hours did ML407's Airframe Log Book record as her final total on 22/9/45

Good hunting and please I would like a good response to this one

**EDIT**

Hello everyone

My mistake - please will you email me with your answers to the 3 question competition by clicking on the email icon at the top left hand of the competition message on the board. That will bring up my email address and you can send me the answer. You can also click right here.

However please leave a message on the message board that you have done so and any cryptic remark to confuse/send in the wrong direction etc other potential entrants!  How unkind of me - still keeps you on your toes.

Carolyn Grace

Hi Barrie.

I don't know if you are having trouble, but, to reply to a post you needn't use Quote every time.

There is a Reply button at the bottom right of each message.

Just hit that and type in the box.

For ref, It is supposed to be hard to get out Smiley This way you spend more time on the message board Tongue

As per my previous post I suggested stevie was correct if the BOSS was being devious as I recall there was no mention of after Nick's rebuild in the original question
Will have a go at the new comp tonight

The reason I added Nick's rebuild on the new message board carried no devious significance - the permit to test is a 'modern' issue not done so during ML407 previous history.

Looking forward to all your answers by email to the new competition.

Just when you all thought - she has forgotten - I reappear, like a bad penny. I will admit to being somewhat late....

the competition that is on this post is not the latest one (I know it is November 2006!)

Guy Ferguson is the winner of the 2006 end of season competition and he will receive an email from me to receive the prize of the full clothing set of The Grace Spitfire which I shall arrange to present to him in September personally with ML407.

Carolyn,
Well done to Guy and I hope he has a long lawn as you appear to want to do a personal delivery !!!!!

Carolyn

Having been out yesterday I have only just opened your email.

Wow what a great surprise - I shall be the best dressed supporter for miles around now!

As to Andy's idea of a personal delivery that would be great, however I suspect the slope of my lawn and rather short length would be a little tricky, (although the nice man who owns the flat golf driving lane next to my garden might let you land if we ask nicely)!

Many thanks again and I'll reply to your email this evening.

Guy
