Duxford?s May show was very good, with a nice mix of Helicopters and fixed wing.

Sorry there are so many pictures!

Starting with the Choppers:

Lovely pictures - thanks for posting. The B17 nose picture looks wonderful.

The 'Black Cats' paint scheme is superb isn't it?

Hi Peter,

Thanks for your comments.

Nice to 'Winston' on your great images from Australia. It was some time ago she appeared at Duxford before heading to Aus, but at least will still have another Meteor flying here with Air Atlantique. Unusual angles on the landing shots!

Matt,

The Black Cats look superb, and hopefully both airframes will look the same before long.

Hi Darren,

Yes, "Winston" now has a different coat. Represented as "Halestorm" an RAAF 77Sqn Meteor from Korea, she is credited with being the last RAAF aircraft to shoot down an enemy aircraft! Long time between working in anger. thankfully.

Temora has several vantage points on the outside of the field where this type of shot is not hard to set up. It just takes a steady nerve to stand there and fire away. Darren Crabb looked long and hard at me as he taxied back and gave me a wave. I doubt that he would have noticed a photographer standing near the fence at that time in his approach, though.

I am looking forward to being in England next Wednesday. Biggin Hill on Friday and Saturday will be good I am sure. A day with "Just Jane" on 6th June will yield some images as well as revive memories of Lincolns in Australia when I lived on the Townsville RAAF base in 1955.

Several RAF bases including Valley and the Welsh Hills are planned as well as some diversity with visits to some birds of prey centres and a couple of steam train experiences. Two visits to Old Warden should give some delightfully different light in which to capture their aircraft.

Just maybe XH558 will take to the air and I will be staying at Willbarston on several occasions close by to Bruntingthorpe. Fingers crossed.

Your gallery shows some very inspiring captures. If I can do half as well as you I will be pleased.

I hope to see you at Biggin Hill.

Best wishes

Peter,

Don't think I am going to make Biggin, but I will be at Old Warden on the Sunday.

Please say hello if you see me. I will be in a high viz vest jacket with my name on, so it should be easy to locate me.

Hi Darren,

Thanks. I will look out for you. I will have a blue "Aero" cap and the usual array of white lenses.

Is Stevie being unkind? Personally, I think PINK is very pretty and it stands out from the crowd of oranges and lemons!  We all make spelling errors from time to time, too.   He, He, He.

Cheers

the sharron story and the pink vest is a long story, which Carolyn started.

Steve is not being unkind, he is a very good mate and we 'enjoy' a lot of banter. Wink

I figured it was just good-natured ribbing. Nice to see some British humour.

Now Gatemaster has joined the act with some very deep insinuations! No "Bruces" here, mate. (ref.  Monthy Python at Drury Lane).

That cannot have been Brit Humour....there was no mention of a toilet at all!

"To us Germans, the toilet is a purely functional affair, to you...the basis of an entire culture."
