Rabbit Leader to Cowslip Control

« on: January 07, 2008, 12:22:18 PM »

Dear All,
Just been checking the website of the show 14th-20th July 2008 and the aircraft listing states

Carolyn Grace ..The Grace Spitfire..Static/Fly
Richard Grace .. Cassullts...OK s/b Cassutts...Static

We will await confirmation on this one... last year I did have the pleasure of watching Carolyn in ML407 and also Richard and Dave in the Cassutts go over the house while I was sipping a cold beer in the garden !

Regards
Andy d

Paul,
Sure is,  2 miles or so WNW of the runway so it can get busy....

Just booked the week off so I get get on the old pushbike and cycle down Long Valley and spend the afternoon on a small hill at the west end of the display line.......2 years ago one of the Reds came past for one of the opposition maneuvers and was maybe just under 100ft. Was also underneath the A380 and Reds flypast.

Lots of sunblock and drink needed.

Regards

Haze,
You can always go and sit above Okehampton on the ranges below Yes Tor and High Willahays and dodge the rounds.....or do they not use that place any more?

I have walked across Bodmin Moor some years back (Deborah's sister lives near to Camelford) lots of sheep (no comments please) no people and the occasional low flying RAF jockey.

Regards

This is an important anniversary year. The first Farnborough Airshow was in 1948. Glad Carolyn has been invited to display.

Wow, sounds like an excellent vantage point Andy.
I used to race motocross on land at long valley, organised by the Windlesham club, during late 70s, early 80s.

Paul: That Spitfire was the Tr Mk8 prototype G-AIDN, which is now back in the UK, I believe. I'm pretty sure that Carolyn was at Farnborough for the 50th anniversary too.

Andy: I was -5 years old at the time, so not entitled to any pocket money!!

What is interesting about the programme is that the whole publication only features British aircraft - 12 pages (out of 24) with pictures of 47 new types. What a difference it will be at this year's show!
