Welcome from another supporter from the states, way up here in the opposite corner of the country just outside of Seattle. 
I guess we've got a wide range of interests that center around everything Spitfire related, or sometimes not so closely related.
Lots of aviation, RAF history, etc., around ML407 as representing (in my humble opinion) the most beautiful aircraft ever made.

Hi Paul,
Yep, Boeing's Seattle roots go way back to early part of the last century.  Please stop me if I run on too long (I'm not a Boeing employee so I'm not too biased).  Boeing started out in Seattle and I think had something to do with boat construction before those Wright boys took to the air.  They made some flying boats, then most famously made the B-17 and B-29, 707, etc. 
While they have different divisions in several western states, most development remains in the Seattle area and several nearby cities.
It shook the region like an earthquake when they decided to move corporate administrative headquarters to Chicago five or six years ago, but nothing else really changed, and they and Microsoft are the largest local employers.
Boeing news generally grabs newspaper headlines around here; lots of fretting about the delays of the new 787 these days.
So, that's a quick history,

Hi Paul,
Boeing's employee numbers have been so up and down with feast or famine, sometimes over 100,000, and other times too low with very damaging effects to the local economy.  Now I would guess that Boeing and Microsoft combined probably employ around 80,000 people locally.  This area is sure reliant on both of them.  There's a lot of related technology employers, too; other software companies and avionics manufacturers, companies that sell in-flight entertainment to airlines or to Airbus.  A lot of aviation-related activity from many perspectives.
