Hi all!

An interesting item! Is that our dear Hazel bidding on it? If so, we should not try and outbid her as we are friends on here. Would you want another doing that to you?

Cheers!

Quick - someone's placed a higher bid today - I know it has a few days to run yet but thought I'd let you know!

Hazel. I hope your brother is a supporter.  If not, that would be a great and lasting birthday gift.

Hazel,

You do know about auction sniping, don't you? You can have a sniping site bid for you at the very last moment without revealing yourself to be a bidder, which can sometimes be useful. Go to http://www.auctionstealer.co.uk which has worked for me in the past and have a look. It works like proxy bidding, so you still set a maximum amount that you want to spend, but unlike proxy bidding, another bidder can't simply keep bidding up to find out what your maximum bid is. This particular site is free with a couple of restrictions, and will place your bid in the last few seconds of the auction. If you pay a small fee, it'll place your bid even closer to the end of the auction. If you're constantly being outbid at the last moment on ebay items, the chances are that the winning bidder is using a sniping site.

Regards,

John
