I love ML407!

« on: April 16, 2008, 06:03:37 PM »

Well as some of you might of read on the "flyapst" forum i am working with 2 others to help create a museum on  the former RAF weston zoyland site.

There are 2 stages to the project, to get an active airfield running, with flying club, hangars, small tea room, enginerring/fuel servies. The airfield will have 1 runways (1 grass and 1 concrete)

The other half is my half and i am trying get a small (at the moment) museum establised on the site. At the moment the museum will start of as a "friends group" till enough funds have been aquired, we will also start off with a small ammout of cockpits We have our first cockpit wh887 who is a fomer weston zoyland a/c so that is great.

Currently the site is being cleared ready to start phase 1 which is the active side of things and the site is being cleared

The museum side is really short of money and we are going to have to "brainstom" some ideas

What we are asking from you is if yoy have any info on weston zoyland, pics of the a/c nd airfield there or you know any local crash sites please inform us.

Also if you would like to donate any artefacts to the museum please feel free to do so

If you have any questions please ask in this thread or visit the website http://www.freewebs.com/westonzoyland

Thanks

An invisible character has crept onto the end of that link and throws up a Page Not Found error. The one above works, though.

            Hello Matt,
Just had a read of your site, good luck with the various aims.
Funnily enough, i was reading about Weston Zoyland on Robert Trumans control tower site and thinking i love to see it restored.
Hopefully will get to visit one day.

                                               Regards Paul

Thanks for viewing the control tower would be nice but its on the wrong bit of land so well haveto wait.

In the next few years we hope to have fly-ins and airshows once the active side is running so hopefulyy ML407 will be there

We will be getting a new and better website designed thats just a starter.

ALL the best

Hello 668.  I was impressed with the Weston Zoyland site and your efforts to restore aircraft and build a museum.  The article on the Canberra project reminded me of our AMARC site here  in Tucson at Davis-Monthan AFB.  The Aircraft Maintenance and Regeneration Center has every type of old aircraft available including the long and short wing versions of the Canberra.  I frequently drive by the fence that they sit behind.  I have a few contacts at AMARC so I will make some inquiries as to how aircraft and parts are sometimes released or loaned to worthy organizations.  Here is one of the websites that you can check out:http://www.amarcexperience.com/Scrapyards.asp. also www.amarcexperience.com/Default.asp Hope this is of some help to you.  good luck in your endeavours.
