I'll pop some more up tomorrow, but here are a few - you can tell the ones taken with a 2x TC, slightly out of focus...(oops). Manual focus is a real pain, especially on things moving!  Smiley The whole exposure thing was driving me potty too - Capture NX has helped me out a bit but I might have to take up flower arranging instead.  Sad

I recommend you stick to photography, whatever flaws they might have they all look good enough to my eye. Lets face it conditions on there were sometimes not idea. But you at least got a good spot to shoot from which I didn't. Too many tall folk in the way. I can't wait to see what else you have because these look quite nice despite the obstacles in your way. Thanks.

The Spitfire on the ground is taken without the 2x TC in place and the lens is so, so much sharper, brighter, punchier and even in manual focus, actually focuses cleanly (in this case I used AF).

I am considering committing a small heresy and flogging the 100-300 f4 to part fund a Sigma 150-500mm or a change of system to Canon because I do wish Nikon users had something like the 100-400mm IS which covers more useful focal lengths for both wildlife and aircraft. Am loath to part with the lens though.

Hi Matt,

Sorry I missed you at the show mate, I only looked at my watch well after you chaps were supposed to meet at the Beaufighter.

The Lanc looks like you have been suffering from similar issues as I had with it, flaming light!! Nice shot though considering the lighting issues at the start of the show.

The last shot of the Spitfire is lovely, great colours and a fantastic sky behind it.

Hi James

Looking forwards to seeing your pictures.

I blew the RV too, we left home at a fairly leisurely rate and then only got there at about 11.40 so I was not able to say 'hello'.

Still, there are Biggin Hill, Flying Legends, the Autumn show, Old Warden's evening displays......

Where abouts where you positioned? We were just about where the Shack and Victor used to be so after about 3pm the sun was not so bad.  I was faddling around with EV changes with the light though and the Lanc had me really baffled.

Matt's thought process as Lanc approaches.....Lanc belly wants to be black = -1 or -.5 EV. Exposure for sky was going to +1.3 ish so...its getting closer.......stuff it, I'll bracket wildly!  Grin

Ah, well that explains why I couldn't find anyone at the RV point, at least.

Lovely shots, Matt; I totally agree about the Spitfire - very nice indeed.

I've tarted up a few more from my elderly Panasonic for general consumption, including one of the Dukes ready for take-off. My position isn't great for taking flight-line pictures, but you do get a pretty much unrestricted view. No one wants to be down at my end, except a lot of flies and a bunch of dodgy freeloaders who try and break in via a gap in the fence.

Regards,

John

Lovely Tiger Moth.

I thought about wandering down that end at one point but by then we'd got oursevles nestled in place in the front! You got some good pictures from there.

"Dodgy Freeloaders"....  Smiley

And some more:

I'll shut up and go to bed now!
