Yesterday afternoon, Lord Tebbit unveiled the new stained-glass memorial window at the North Weald Airfield Museum. The window has been paid for by donations from numerous squadrons, ex-servicemen's organisations and individual donations. These were matched by grants from Epping Forest DC and Essex CC. It has taken several years for it to be realised, and is regarded as a "community" project, which is hosted by the museum.

The window was produced by a Birmingham company, and is most impressive. With good weather for a change, there was a good turnout for the event, attended by an RAF Air Commodore and numerous veterans. Lord Tebbit flew Venoms and Meteors operationally from North Weald post-war.
