I love ML407!

« on: November 13, 2008, 06:43:28 PM »

Hi Folks,
Sorry if I have missed this, but was most interested to see Carolyn's 2008 "Diary" on p.6 of this month's newsletter, received today , re the filming of TG on May 18th.
As I don't usually watch this show, I wondered if ithe Spitfire session  has been televised yet, or a date proposed for same?
If it has already happened, does anyone have a link please?  Shocked

It was episode 8 in the last series and went to air on 27/7/08. the iplayer link is no longer available. it will no doubt appear on Dave soon enough. they do a 'challenges' series on DVD apparently - if I find out any more info I will let everyone know. Sorry you missed it as it was a great piece of TV.

I did point out in the June Newsletter that you must watch Top Gear - I did not know the date until July.

Antiquary,
This is a got to see episode, I real thought Top Gear had peaked and then they did this... Awesome... It used to be on the internet via iPlayer and Youtube but unsurprisingly it has all been removed. I will even go as far as saying buy the DVD when it comes out, a great one for Christmas...

Thanks for the update - Boss and Unit 53.

Carolyn, do you have any intention of adding this DVD, if/when available - to our shop catalogue?

Actually, it's still on YouTube:

The quality's not wonderful,  but you'll get the idea. Oh, and don't bother to read the comments after the first few...

Enjoy.

If it makes a noise, I'll record it. If it moves and makes a noise, I'll record it in in high definition surround-sound.

Wow!! I checked the link.  I was really impressed to see three 2-seater Spits flying together.  Too bad they spent so little time showing them off.  I found the automobile demolition derby was a bit silly.  Did they do anything with the Spitfires in another episode?

It was such a good piece but rather too short I agree however such is life.

I will not be in a position to obtian the DVD should it come out but will let it be known if it does indeed come out!

John, thank you for posting that I did not know it was on youtube.

The Freeview TV Channel Dave has the Spitfire episode today (Monday 22nd December 2008) at 15:00 (and if you're up early, it's on at 10:00)

Just as an update - the BBC has removed the Top Gear/Spitfire clip from YouTube, but it can still be found here:

Cheers for that link John, id forgotten how bloody marvelous that episode was, and i hate Top Gear. The section of the clip, where the Spitfire does a roll just before the landing shot is just beautiful.
